In May, Western Berks participated in a “Hometown Heroes” public relations event sponsored by Wal-Mart and its Associates. We spent a day at the Wyomissing store along with local Police and Fire services and several Wal-Mart Associates (who volunteered their time and efforts) to insure a successful day meeting the public and promoting safety awareness. These same associates then spent the following week involved in several fund raisers with the same theme, namely promoting public awareness of local EMS, Fire and Police and how we contribute to our community. On Friday, Sept. 10th Wal-Mart invited all the services who attended that day and awarded each a check for $550.00! The presentation was attended by many of the same Associates who helped raise these funds as well as Channel 69 News. Thank you Wal-Mart. We intend to return this donation to the community through out public relations programs.
