The Spring Township Police Department and the Western Berks Ambulance Association have partnered together to enhance their capabilities to reach emergency locations with a recently received equipment grant.
When emergencies occur, there is no guarantee that it will be easy for the emergency service responders to reach the people that need help. Often, emergency scenes are in the most remote areas which cause responders spend extra time walking into these off-the-beaten path areas. In order to ensure that this obstacle can be overcome, the Spring Township Police Department and the Western Berks Ambulance Association today announced that they have received and will be placing into service a six wheel drive “Polaris Ranger” all-terrain vehicle.

The Spring Township Police Department and the Western Berks Ambulance Association recently were awarded this partnership equipment grant and received the Polaris Ranger. The grant was awarded through the US Smokeless Tobacco Company, “Operation Ranger” Program. The value of the grant was for a total of $10,299.

The Spring Township Police Department and the Western Berks Ambulance Association are pleased to be working with US Smokeless Tobacco Company to implement the “Operation Ranger” program and place the Ranger into service. US Smokeless Tobacco Company has funded the “Operation Ranger” program free-of-charge to emergency service agencies nationwide for the past three years on a competitive grant proposal basis. The Ranger awarded to the Spring Township Police Department and the Western Berks Ambulance Association was one of twenty-six awarded nationwide.
