McMahon, Mayor, City of Reading, Pennsylvania, and Julie Blatt, Wyomissing Barnes & Noble Merchandise Manager, have announced the first of two special story time events to be held at Barnes & Noble Booksellers at which Mayor McMahon will be the guest reader. These special events are being held in conjunction with a book drive benefiting Greater Reading Cops ‘N’ Kids. The first

Event will take place on December 3, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Barnes & Noble Booksellers. The Spring

Township Police Department will also be at the event to print Kid Card ID Kits for children.

As contractors begin the first phase of the restoration of the Pagoda, the trademark exterior red neon lights on the Pagoda will be disconnected on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. The neon lights will remain off for the duration of the restoration whichis anticipated to be completed by the end of this year.
